I have tried to build a WIndows Home Server and the OS was working ok, but it said the backup service wasn't running and wouldn't start at all, and when I tried to set up the router and website the WHS console shut down. I had downloaded a 120 day trial version to try out to see if I like it, directly from microsoft before they took out the link. I burned the DVD and it asks for the CD-rom of server 2003 for small business. Can I alter it to take the DVD? Any help here will be appreciated.

I imagine it's technically possible, but we really need an idea of exactly what you need the CD for. A screenshot and a description of exactly what you're doing when WHS asks for the CD would be immensely helpful.

Well being that you got a beta it is probably still buggy. The WHS is based off of the SBS 2003 setup with a more XP like UI. Even if you do get an SBS 2003 disc you won't be able to use it probably, asthe code keys will not match. I would suggest doing a clean install with all networking devices plugged in with WHS. WHS is built to be used black box style. Once it is loaded on a system it is built to be accessed by another node on your network. You might want to look around the web and see if you can get an RTM version. We have been using it since it was in beta and haven't seen the issue you are describing. If you want to see if you like it, you are welcome to come to our Manchester store, where we have one set up on display.
